Because when founder Massimo Osti – who recently passed away, to the grief of the fashion world - was casting around for a name for his new range of clothing in1975, he turned for inspiration to what he considered the best British tailoring brand, Chester Barrie, and the best British sportswear brand at that time – Fred Perry, named after the tennis star.Chester Perry Company was born, and the name was later shortened to CP Company.
